Ever since as a baby I have been spending my Summers at the sea. In my childhood, my parents were enthusiastic sailors and whenever the sea was open (I mean it was not frozen), we were sailing across the Baltic Sea visiting all the countries located around it. Sometimes we even sailed all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, Neatherlands, Belgium and Norway.
When thinking of my yearly years it is not a surprise that the Archipelago of The Baltic Sea with its rough yet extremely beautiful landscape is very deep in me. For me the bare islets next to the open sea represents the most beautiful places in Finland and my Summer is not fulfilled without couple of weeks in the archipelago.
Now a days I spend my Summers in Hanko, a small city located in the most southern place of Finland, a cape reaching to the open sea. It is a popular summer city with many events such as the sailing event Hangon Regatta. We have a small boat and as far as it is not storming we make day trips on the small islets.
I find it as a huge luxury that every day I can choose a new island and spend the whole day there just with my family. You are sure to have your own peace as the unwritten etiquette says you don’t land on an islet if there is a boat already.
With these pics, I want to send you some of the beauty of the Finnish Archipelago.
